POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Franchise Developer is responsible for meeting company goals for Franchise Agreement signings of new Motel 6 & Studio 6 locations throughout the United States.

 

The Franchise Developer will work closely with both the training department and his/her mentor to understand the brands and their respective business models as well as day-to-day operations of a motel.

 

In this role the Franchise Developer will be responsible for creating new relationships with potential franchisees while maintaining and nurturing existing relationships.

 

The position will require travel within the assigned Area of Responsibility as well as to other geographical areas as requested.

 

The individual selected will be responsible for: collecting data, generating reports, visiting properties, determining viability of properties and/or markets, reviewing contracts, negotiating deals, determining renovation needs and preparing Property Improvement Plan (PIP), closing deals, and collecting documents for contract execution.

 

The Franchise Developer will work closely with the entire Franchise team and will interact frequently with various departments of the corporate operations team.

 

The Franchise Developer will report directly to the Vice President Franchise Development. The individual will have full ownership of his/her assigned Area of Responsibility (4 to 8 states).

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Identify and qualify franchise prospects:

 

  • Contact independent motel owners in in Area of Responsibility
  • Prospecting and managing referrals is essential on each business trip (4 prospecting calls for each appointment)
  • Visit potential development projects and evaluate feasibility of the project
  • Report details of project though photos introducing the potential franchised property

  

Ability to effectively take prospects from application to franchise agreement execution:

 

  • Identify quality projects & owners which will bring value to the network
  • Ensure project meets required criteria
  • Negotiate with the franchisee regarding the specificities of the deal
  • Ensure the Director of Operations involvement
  • Obtain approval from Vice-President and Executive Vice-President regarding potential deals

 

Prepare franchise projects in FranConnect for review by Franchise Approval Committee for approval: 

  • Perform the “due-diligence” and work with all necessary G6 Hospitality Departments or 3rd Parties
  • Obtain all support documentation from prospective Franchisee
  • Produce the narrative and other required documentation for Project review & approval
  • Prepare the PIP
  • Prepare Franchise Agreement Term Sheet
  • Enter all necessary information and documents into FranConnect and track progress 

Report all Projects in the pipeline

 

  • Update FranConnect on a daily basis
  • Communicate with / Seek guidance from mentor on continual basis

 Manage Franchise growth

 

Manage assigned Area of Responsibility (usually 4 to 8 states) by using comprehensive business plan: update business plan for the start of each year

  • Maintain strong working relationships with the existing franchisees in assigned Area of Responsibility
  • Collaborate with G6 Hospitality Real Estate Department for future development opportunities
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with RVP, and Director Operations in the Area of Responsibility 

Create efficient working relationships: 

  • Continually update FranConnect database
  • Focus network extension on: present franchisees, corporate personnel, vendors, lenders, brokers, developers, realty agents
  • Attend industry related regional and/or national trade show, report on show’s viability and leads generated as a result

 Job Requirements:

 Demonstrated ability to work from a home office located in the geographical Area of Responsibility, with approximate 90%

travel

  • Demonstrated ability to perform with initiative and ability to effectively operate with little or no supervision
  • Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other employees
  • Ability to orally and verbally communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Ability to operate within a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

 Bachelor’s degree - preferred

  • Minimum 3 years sales experience
  • Minimum 1 year Business Development or Franchising experience
  • Real estate/hospitality/retail/F&B/multi-unit industry experience - preferred
  • Problem solver, creative, sharp thinker, business-savvy, proactive, self-driven
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to “close deals” are necessary
