Director of Payroll

 

G6 Hospitality is hiring a Director of Payroll to support our G6 and its iconic Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands. We are seeking a strong leader who is deep in functional payroll knowledge. This individual will lead the payroll function through an HCM implementation, demonstrate a Heart for Service and build strong relationships with other departments. He/she will focus on creating a positive work environment, and assist in developing the team members’ skills and help them achieve their goals. Even if you have not led payroll in a hospitality setting before, if you have a true knack for multi-tasking, being resourceful, maintaining a Heart for Service in any circumstance and optimizing performance, this could be a role for you.

 

This is an immediate full-time position.

Responsibilities

What You Will be Doing

 

This position provides leadership and direction in the utilization, accuracy and effectiveness of all payroll operations.  The Director also works directly with General Accounting and our senior most leaders for P&L and budget variance questions. As a strong partner across the enterprise, this individual provides direct support for the reporting needs of the HR community, Legal, Tax and Risk. They also partner externally, establishing, directing, coordinating and managing payroll vendor relationships and all contracts associated.  Major functions include:

 

  • Government Reporting
  • Payroll Operations
  • Auditing/Compliance
  • Project Management
  • Vendor Negotiation / Relationships
  • Leadership

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting/Business Administration/Finance, or a combination of education and experience, in related fields
  • Minimum 8 years payroll experience in a multi-state payroll environment. Exposure to several payroll systems such as in-house and third party vendors
  • Extensive knowledge of labor laws and local, state, and federal regulatory and procedural requirements
  • Strong knowledge of G/L balancing process
  • Experience with system’s conversions and upgrades
  • Highly skilled working with HRMS systems, time and attendance and Financial systems
  • Comprehensive ability to communicate, influence, persuade, gain confidence of and advise senior management on sensitive issues regarding Benefits and Wellness
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office
  • Ability to partner successfully with all levels in the organization
  • Outstanding customer service skills and focus
  • Evidence of the practice of maintaining high levels of confidentiality
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use creativity and resourcefulness
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision
